Artist Statement
Art is alchemy and to create, a transformative process. I am compelled to create when ideas ignite, and the work is an evolution bringing forth an idea to resolution, driven by my imagination and guided by my mind’s eye.
Much of my work is made like a puzzle. Arranging scattered things, I internalize finding order intuitively free of any outcome. This is self-perpetuating until the balance is contained, sustained or natural order is in place. When the last puzzle piece falls into place, the work is done.
The work represents a reverence and connection with our innate wisdom, and the supernatural. It is an invitation to the subconscious through the eyes, to discover and question things about the world, oneself, or just enjoy.
Bio
Izzy Graeser is an artist and creator of Voodoo flavored art.
A lifetime fascination with art, the Supernatural, and rituals, her artwork resonates and pays reverence to innate magic.
Accidental territory captivates her, both in art and travel and is influenced by journeying the paths of the ancients, and making pilgrimages to the wonders of the world.
Captivated by Mural Painting, she trained in Trompe L’oeil and Theatre Set painting in Geneva, Switzerland. In the Mural epicenter, San Francisco, CA, she landed her dream job painting large scale Backdrops for famous Rock Concert Tours, and Murals, while living in the color splashed Mission District.
Intrigued by experimenting with found objects, her artwork changed course giving way to a less perfectionist approach, and opening the door to a more organic form of self-expression. Created much like a puzzle, the artwork comes together intuitively and is ever evolving.
She has roots in USA and Switzerland, and is currently based in Bern, Switzerland.
